Honeymoon Liveaboard 2013 - MV Orion - Dive #12 Manta feeding - North Ari Atoll, Maldives MaaantaA frenzy!!! What an amazing dive!! They propped up a couple of flood lights at the back of the Orion so that it would attract first a lot of plantons, and then Manta Rays who will feed on the plantons. This doesn't always work, but tonight we were super lucky. There were 3-5 Manga Rays feeding and bathing in the lights. We quickly put on our gear and quitly slid down into the water and onto the sandh bottom at around 15 meters depth. There we positioned ourselves in a half circle and propped our torches in a 45° Angle towards the Mantas. They would then dive head on into the light beams, do an impressive backflip and then do it all over again - sometimes up to 3-4 times seemlessly in a row. An amazing sight! I've never experienced anything like it! Silje filmed q. ite alot with the GoPro, but I didn't get any good photos. We weren't alowed to use any strobes and the visibility was very limited. After the dive I slid into the water again with a snorkel and hung around the big floodlights on the surface. The Mantas would sometime come up to the surface and perform the same acrobatic backflip movement, where I would sei e the moment and get some amazing photos! I was in the water untill Russ the Divemaster told me to come up and it something before everyone else had finished the food :-) An epic dive!

Night Dive ! Played the chaperon for a young italian couple... pushed them, again and again... then lost my temper and let them... we lost the guy, then the girl, and finally, he went to the surface 200m far from the boat, and abandoned his girlfriend Stefania... I think they didn't speak to each other for the remaining days.

-One of the most beautiful reefs, excellent fish diversity and marine ecology -Blue soft corals underneath and yellow corals on the top, look like different coloured snow flakes -Sea turtles in the distance

Manta madness. Hooked on near a cleaning station with approximately 60 other divers and watched manta after manta coming in to be cleaned. SURREAL! Changed to a larger tank...good move
