  After having missed the morning dive because we were busy scoffing our faces on breakfast, Nessa and I had a good walk around town in the morning. In the afternoon we met our dive guide, Tom, and a Swiss couple with whom we set off to Reqqa point. If we had been doing this ourselves I don't think we would have got in the water as the main entry point was very choppy with the Easterly wind. However we dropped into a sheltered bay around the corner which allowed us to get out to this underwater pinnacle with surrounding reef. We dropped into about 6m of water and did a bit of a weight check. Mainly swimming along a large wall covered in seaweeds, small orange anemones and a little bit of coral. The things I liked along the wall was lots of creatures that looked like centipedes. There were also lots of purple jellyfish off in the blue water. The water was so lovely and clear here and from 10m you could easily see the sandy bottom at 50m (viz must have been in excess of 30-35m). We gradually descended as we made our way along the wall so our maximum depth. Felt pretty shattered during the dive as my wing was so inflated that I must have made quite a cross-section in the water. When we had made our way over to the pinnacle we came up over the top, where I spotted a pretty dinky little scorpion fish. Then up right on the pinnacle was a lovely little purple nudibranch (hoping I see lots more nudibranches this holiday). When we started up onto the top of the reef there was a really nice shift in light and lots more damsel fish, sea grass and little fishes. Started making our way back and knew we still had quite a swim. But it was nice looking up at the swell crashing against the shore when we were swimming back (Nessa was baffled by what I was looking at!). Back towards the exit point we found another large scorpion fish, well camouflaged underneath an overhanging rock. Nearby was the entrance to a cave, which apparently heads back 100m underneath the salt pans. Nice dive overall with lovely visibility. Will hope to feel better underwater with a bit less weight but certainly bodes well for the holiday.
