Last dive in Viet Nam :( Once again w/ Anh, Laurent & Volker. Lots of life among the rocks & less time over the sand. I spotted some v big (12cm?) nudibranch & Anh found me an octopus! Hurrah!! Amazing camoflage amongst the rocks & he was BIG. Good fun doing the swim-throughs again. Also saw a couple of white-mouthed moray, harlequin sweetlips (adult & baby), & the usual mix of butterfly, anenome, lizard, goat, lion, puffer & box fish! Great dive to finish on :)

W/ Anh, Laurent & Volker (German - hair like Sideshow Bob!). Similar profile to previous days, down through thermocline - sandy bottom, occasional rocks, poor vis. Spotted some nudibranch & a flying gurnard. Then back up to coral shelf & much more life incl. big yellow trumpetfish (pipefish).

W/ Anh, Laurent & German chap again. Great dive despite headache! V marked thermocline at 12m - below was cold & v murky; worse than UK! Down to 20m, not a lot to see. Back up above the line... wow! Amazing vis, beautiful blue sea & loads of fish. I spotted a flying gurnard (winged!) & Anh was great as usual, pointing out all sorts. Best dive yet :) Headache bad so sat out the 2nd dive.

Same group as previous. Pretty poor vis from 12m down to 17m. Similar sights as before but also some v big nudibranch, juvenille morays, an egg cowry, another baby harlequin sweetlips, various small puffers, wrasse etc. According to publicity, "Anh is widely regarded as the best dive guide in Viet Nam" - concur!!

W/ Anh, Laurent & German couple. Saw the usual suspects (still nothing big & no octopus yet!) & lots of shrimp in the rocks at ~20m, nice shoals/schools of fish once we were shallower & inside the swim-through.

Same group as previous. Vis poor to begin with but improved as we got shallower, as did the topography - v big rocks & some bigger fish amongst the usual smaller stuff, & two swim-throughs, 1st w/ big shoals of fish! Deeper for longer & chilly to start with, hence higher gas usage! Amongst others: white-mouth moray, lots of lizard fish big & small, various grouper, trevally, snapper, butterfly fish, anenome fish, and a baby harlequin sweetlips. And a large mantis shrimp in a hole.

W/ Anh & Laurent again, & a German couple w/ expensive looking gear! V similar dive to yesterday. Rocky down to 19m or so; a few nudibranch, lionfish... More life in the shallows; small fish of all sorts, a pufferfish (my spot!), large stonefish or maybe scorpionfish.

W/ Anh & Laurent again. Similar to last dive: lots of small fish, nudibranch, zebra lionfish, moses sole (flat fish), sea lizard(?), rockfish etc. mask & mouthpiece a bit uncomfortable :( Anh has eyes like a hawk!!

Dived with legendary guide Anh & a French guy called Laurent. Not much to see initially; sandy bottom & a few rocks down to 18m, a few nudibranch incl. a very large purple one! Dive improved massively as we came back up into the rocks & corals around 10m; lots of small fish (too many types to list!) incl. boxfish, moray eels, clown fish (inquisitive!), leaf-fish... Nice, warm, long dive :)
