My first and only dive in Armenia with the lovely people of Altitide 1900 on Lake Sevan. As far as I can tell this is the only dive outfit in all of Armenia. On the house reef there was nothing to see but rocks and, very special, stomatolites. Stromatolites are layered rock formations that are mainly formed in shallow layers of salt or fresh water. They are formed as a result of the biological activity of cyanobacteria, which are otherwise called blue-green algae. Cyanobacteria uses water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight to make their food, then emit oxygen as a supplement.
