1990-09-25 - B17 Ruiniu Creek, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands

15m - 35 min - Dived with Paul Bird

Dived on a B17 bomber. An intereseting dive but short because the wreck isn't complete (just the nose and cockpit). There was nothing else to see apart from the wreck.

1990-09-29 - Ijn Submarine I 1, Tambea, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands

27m - 60 min - Dived with Paul Bird

IJN Submarine I-1 Sunken Japanese Submarine. My first boat dive. 320 feet long with an endurance of 60 days and a range of 24,000 miles. The I-1 ran aground on the reef in January 1943 after a battle with two New Zealand corvettes. The submarine now lies with the shattered bow in 15 feet (5 m) and the stern in 100 feet (30 m) of water.

1990-09-29 - Tambea Reef Caves, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands

15m - 48 min - Dived with Paul Bird

A reef off the coast from Tambea (a small village and resort at the North West Point of Guadalcanal). This reef has many tunnels and caves that lead from the outer perimeter of the reef and lead into the middle of the area. Seemed to be gullies overgrown by coral. Very nice dive site. On this dive I got a reverse sinus block from going down and up repeatedly through the caves.

1990-10-01 - Tassafaronga Bay, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands

5m - 40 min - Dived with Paul Bird

A shallow water dive looking for shells and other interesting things. However the water was very unclear. If my father and I knew only 300 meters away there was an awesome site to dive, it would have been better.
