Becoming a PADI Instructor: Update

Shared by Phil on November 12, 2013 in Education

So, as a lot of you can tell my posts kind of died out and there is a reason for that. I found that logging the process wasn't helping me retain the information as well as I had hoped. So I decided to abandon it in search of a better way to study that would allow me to retain the information better.

I've had good success with going through the PADI workbook as well as using the idc-guide website to review the information. I've also been using the information when giving my speeches helping out at the dive shop for OW and AOW courses. Rainbow Reef also provides a great resource that is an online quiz/testing system that formats questions in the format that PADI will during the IDC covering all of the topics. At this point I'm averaging close to 96% on most tests of ~60 questions (12 from each category)

I've done a few practice demonstrations in the pool with the LDS I volunteer at and have been graded by the instructor of around 23 out of 25 points as far as those go. I feel pretty comfortable at this point with most aspects inside and outside of the classroom and can only hope the pressure is not too much when the spotlight is on me at IE.

It's less than a month now before I leave. I have my plane ticket purchased and shuttle set up to drop me off at Rainbow Reef once I arrive on the 4th of December. Classes will begin bright and early on the 5th. I'm getting pretty excited at this point and my nerves are a bit anxious.

I'll do my best to keep you updated as I enjoy the journey!
