Calypso Diving Centre, Malta
(1 review) |
We take a small amount of pride in being able to say that George Vella and Calypso Diving Centre were one of the founders of professional diving services offered in Gozo.
Calypso has been running since 1985, with an enthusiasm to show our guests the delightful underwater world around Gozo. During this time we have offered dive training for different levels and introduction dives for anyone who is curious, but has never been under water, as well as guided and unguided diving services.
As a PADI Dive Centre and BSAC Centre of Excellence, we offer dive training for the beginner up to Divemaster (PADI) and Advanced diver (BSAC); as well as a wide choice of specialty courses. Please find more details by clicking on Diving courses. Thanks to Tom’s additional experience as a NRC trainer we are able to train divers in NRC Nitrox 1 and 2, as well to certify instructors to train and authorize divers to use Nitrox as an alternative to compressed air as a breathing gas.

Inland Sea to Blue Hole, Gozo Started our last dive in Gozo in the same way that we’d started here the other day.... first on site, said hello to the octopus at the entrance to the tunnel then swam through into the amazing light shining into the tunnel. Felt very cold today as there was no real light into the site so we tried not to spend too long at depth. Did duck down when I remembered that the black and white nudibranches were still living down deep at the moment. Managed to find a few which I papped with my camera. Once you’ve seen one you start spotting them everywhere! Took things a lot more leisurely this time around so we got to the blue hole after about 45 mins. Meant we could take a bit more time exploring the wall and checking out all the fish that swim up and down in the current. Kept an eye out for barracuda out in the blue water too but didn’t spot any. Had a circle around in the Blue hole as we did our safety stops and really imbedded the memories we have from this wonderful dive site.
