Went looking for lobster. Had good success. Caught 3 lobster, but let one go which was barely a keeper. I learned afterwards that measuring devices are already slightly larger than 3 inches, so I should have kept it. The smaller one was the hardest to catch. It came out the ledge and Matt was waving at it. It was funny, I thought he was going to touch it. Gina and Matt had deco on their computers. Matt did a partial deco stop and Gina did 12 minutes. My computer did not go into deco. Both of them have the Suunto algorithm. Again, no lionfish.

After our bad drop on Princess Anne, we opted for a reef dive to finish off our tanks. Matt and I had around 2900 lbs and Gina had 2400, but she rocked it and surfaced with more air than us. The current was ripping. Matt was looking for lionfish and I was hunting lobster. Right at the end of the dive we found a lobster. It had itself wedged upside down in a hole, so I just reached in, dug it out, and pulled it out by hand. Also found a small on this dive in the middle of the dive. No lionfish to be found, though Matt said he saw a very small one. Saw a large green moray and not much else. Matt saw a turtle, but I did not. When catching the lobster, Matt saw it seconds before me and when we dropped in on it in the strong current, he turned around behind me. His spear caught in the sand and he stabbed my foot with the spear. Hit my left index toe right on the joint. I had 1200 lbs before going for the lobster and we surfaced immediately after catching it. I got to the surface with 500 lbs. I used a lot of air catching that lobster.

I Struggled on whether to log this as a dive or not. It was my deepest dive, so I decided to allow it in my log. This was a drop on the Princess Anne with Sea Pup. We missed the wreck, never saw it, bad drop. We quickly made the decision to abort the dive so we could re-drop. Gina had jumped in prematurely as well before the boat called dive dive dive.

striving to be great!

Sea Pup is a great new charter operator. The crew and staff are awesome. As new kids on the block, Sea Pup is looking to excel at what they do. And that attitude shows! Sea Pup is one of my "go to" charters. It is wise to double check the dive site with the crew. Make sure that the drop site is identified and that you are dropped over the reef or wreck. Sea Pup frequently misses a drop due to the varying current of our drift dives.
