We dived this site with Mark from The Dive Bus and used the Thrusters to `Fly the Reef`. It was alot of fun and we saw the reef in a different way. I think that, because you see the reef at a faster pace, it is easier for the brain to put together the big picture. But, conversely, it also lets you spend more time on specific small spots because you can get to and from places quicker. it is fun. Because we had run a bit short on NDL the day before, we decided to use nitrox 32% for this dive. It was good because we had more time at depth than we would have had otherwise.

Car Pile. We did this as an independent dive out of The Dive Bus. Great Shop. I had done this dive a few years ago. You walk across the road from the shop to the beach. Take the walkway between the two small buildings and enter via the beach. A few strokes to the breakwater and decend. The coral starts very near the rocky breakwater along a plateau before sloping down the reef. At about the 10 minute mark we started our decent and arrived at the barge resting in about 28 metres. We then turn back but continued our decent into the car pile itself. A few years ago there were more recognizable cars. they were sunken cars from Cuba. 1950s era. It is mostly a rust pile now but there was still a large upturned tractor-trailer with the tires still intact. Not much bottom time at 35 metres so after a short stay we started our gradual ascent, riding the two-minute NDL back to the top of the reef. Then spent some time in the shallows before entering the bay again. It was quite a nice dive. All the usual species were seen but in the past there were more large tarpon.

Another great night dive. We saw 2-3 octopi, (one of them may have been a repeat), big crabs, small crabs, medium crabs, big lobsters, small lobsters, lots of sleeping fish, scorpion fish, lion fish, striped angels, spotted drums, trunk fish, puffer fish, blue tangs, big sea urchins.

Friendliest Dive shop on Curacao
We've dived with Mark and Suzy three times and just love them. It's been five years since we were in Curacao and they remembered us right from the email (they actually cited something about us that you'd only know if you knew us). They're funny and casual but great guides and teachers. They make it really easy and fun. Side note: We first dived with them in 2008 when we brought our then 7-month old son to the Island. The night before we were supposed to have our second dive with Dive Bus, we were up for three hours with our son. When we showed up and told them why we were late, Suzy said, "That's terrible! Would you like me to make you some coffee while you get set up??" What other place would do that? That's why we keep coming back.
