Before the dive, site preparation: sawing open a hole & compressing the snow. Exploration dive hanging on a long thread (and trying not to get mixed up in it). Saw a beautiful Fario trout swimming in mid-water. After the dive I took the cameras and manage to take a few decent shots near the entry hole where the light let the autofocus work

Lost ice diver training No full face mask today, but it was unexpectedly OK with a regular mask and a protective mouthpiece. Tried to take a few pictures but failed since the low light disabled th e autofocus to work ... and I did not take the ring for manual focus :/ Dive followed by a cool theory course on ice diving. Also no sun this time.. ice and wind. Helped out open up the ice holes

First time with a dry suit, first time ice diving. Everything went well, Vince showed me how to make a bubble tornado :) Beautiful horizontal cavities craved by the bubbles and cool puffy ice forming at the surface. And there even was a fish (trout) silently freezing at the bottom of the lake! Drilling the ice from below was a tough exercise, I started to ventilate quite a lot and took a few mins to get breathing back to normal

Learning from the best
Alban Michon is one of the big names in ice & cave diving - he took part into awesome expeditions (deep sea under the pole...) and learning ice diving from him was an incredible experience. Along with his team (Vince and Monche) I had a 3 dive + theory + site preparation session and really feel like I had an excellent training with them - I'll probably go for more if I come in Tignes again
