Open Water Training Dive #2 Did a confined water session off the shore of the smaller island. Ramon joined us after that for lunch and our open water dive. Skills learnt: gearing up in-water with BCD and weights, buddy checks (BWRAF), snorkel-reg exchange, descend with line, AAS (donor and receiver ascend), full-mask flooding and clearing, neutral buoyancy-LPI, tired diver tow, cramp release. During the confined water session spotted a tiny, translucent jellyfish! So cute! For the open session, we followed Fizah's lead. Saw some cleaner shrimp at a semi-buried tyre, 2 jenkins whiprays, blue-spotted fantail ray, giant moray, COT, blue-ringed angel fish, yellow-tailed barracuda, banded splendor wrasse, parrot fish (dusky, bullet head, ember)! Practised out-of-air/buddy breathing and cramp removal/tired diver tow at the end of the dive. *00:51/00:53/01:44

Open Water Training; Dive #1 My first ever dive! =D So happy to finally be in the water with sayang <3. We (Andy, Raimy, Ramon) started the session with our instructor Fizah/Fizzy in shallow water (about 2m) where she taught us some basic skills like partial mask flood, regulator clearing (purge & blast), regulator recovery (arm sweep), alternative air source (AAS) use. I was a little nervous and I think that caused me to hyperventilate a little. That in turn affected my descent and Fizah had to put more weight on me. It was really cool to dive for the first time! Best part was being able to breathe underwater; always wanted to do that! =D I was, however, a little too excited I suppose, what with all the new sensations and not being certain if I was doing things right. Was afraid of bumping into the reef etc. Also didn't do that good a job keeping up with Ramon/being a good dive buddy. Oh yes, had a neutral buoyancy control practice before descending too (that's when the weights got added). Back to the dive, my mask was pretty foggy so I missed seeing some (2) blue spotted rays. That, or perhaps I was too distracted by not being able to equalise efficiently (I swallowed instead of blowing through my nose). I did, nonetheless, get to see some pretty cool things like the school of yellow snappers, sergeant majors, western clownfish, baby white eyed moray eel, and a huge titan trigger fish!

Friendly dive shop and good equipment

I've dived in 4 occasions with Turtle Bay this year, and I can say : I can't wait for the monsoon season to be over so I can return back in 2015! Up to 3 dives a day, very friendly crew. I passed my PADI Advanced with them in July. All the rest was fun dives. And it was fun. I really recommend the place.

Excellent operator with very affordable prices

I've been diving with Turtle Bay divers 3 times (2007, 2008 and 20014) and I've always had an excellent service from all the staff (from boatmen to dive guides, etc) and the always attentive owner, Yaakub. This time, I've enjoyed talking in Spanish to my fellow national dive guides Lluis and Santi.
