Steps to use the Migrator Tool to transfer QuickBooks Desktop from Old Computer to New One

  • You can use the Migrator Tool to transfer QuickBooks Desktop to the new system. In addition, up to three company files can be transferred to the new system. This is applicable for single-mode users who are using the US version of QB Desktop 2018 or later.
  • Now, the user is required to take a note of the password to prevent it from being misplaced. This password will only be required once, and it will be specific to the Migrator tool.
  • The Migrator tool will save all QuickBooks supporting files and the previously opened three company files to the USB flash drive.
  • The tool will set up QuickBooks files on the new computer and download the appropriate version of QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Notably, it does not delete any additional system files.

•       The user will also need to:

  1. Log into QB payroll.
  2. Create the backup schedule in Intuit Data Protect (IDP) upon logging in.
  3. Transfer all remaining company files from the old computer to the new one.
  4. Create a backup of all your company files.
  5. All the information required to install QuickBooks Desktop on your new computer will be copied. Your old PC retains all the information.
