Scuba diving locations in Burma:

  • The Burma Banks are a series of submerged sea mounts in remote waters around 180km northwest of the Similans. The waters surrounding the Banks drop to 350 metres deep and host local populations of silvertip shark and nurse sharks that are unafraid of divers.
  • The Mergui Archipelago consists of over 800 islands, some of them the size of Singapore and most of them uninhabited.

When to scuba dive in Burma:

As flooding and landslides are common during rainy season, from June to September, October to May is the best season. For the Mergui Archipelago, February to May is generally the best period to witness the most frequent manta ray and whale shark sightings.
