4 Easy Ways To Share Your Passion For SCUBA Diving!
by SKuba Steve on November 25, 2014
Diving is cool… not just a little bit cool… it’s REALLY cool! Having dive experience and being a part of the SCUBA community makes each of us a member of a fortunate group. The great news is that this group is always looking for new members and as ambassadors of the SCUBA community (aka – SCUBAvangelists) we enjoy drawing people into the sport, either vicariously through our own dive stories or quite literally by introducing them to diving for themselves.
Here are 4 ways you can share your SCUBA! Dive In to the Under Pressure Dive Blog for more!
Use Double Strobes for Macro Photography
by Simon Chiu on October 23, 2014
Why use double strobes for UW macro photography? The following two reasons are my humble opinions about it:
1. Reduce shadow
It's very easy to create shadow when we use only one source of lighting, like the picture shows below. I don't mean shadow is totally wrong or bad for the UW pictures. Shadow can bring more contrast and stereoscopic, however, many details will be lost in shadow.
Last time, I used double strobes to take the pictures of Porcelain Crab. As what we see below, there is less shadow on the subject and the picture is softer.
2. Various Strobe positioning ...
Diveboard news: Introducing the Diveboard agent
by Ksso on October 16, 2014
Since the very beginning you've been able to upload dives from your dive computer through the Diveboard plugin that was running within your web browser and connecting to your dive computers. This has worked great so far but came with a few issues such as the lack of an offline mode - you needed to be online and logged in to grab your dive profiles and upload them. Moreover browsers will soon drop the support for plugins like this. So we needed to evolve our plugin towards a more future proof solution.
So we crated the Divebaord Agent.
Just like the plugin, it will work on Mac/Linux/Windows. The agent lives in the tray and will connect to your dive computer and upload dive profiles to...
Muck Dive in Dauin, Dumaguete
by Simon Chiu on September 23, 2014
I went on a diving trip to Dumaguete, Philippines in August, 2014. I arrived at the diving shop around 12nn. The name of the shop is Liquid Dumaguete.
Day 1After simple lunch, I joined the shore dive at 2pm. Because the boat of the shop was in Apo Island for their diving day trip, we took a jeep to the breach of the dive site and geared up there. Unlike the white beaches I usually see here in the Philippine, the beach is brown color. The name of this dive site is Sahara. Like Sahara Desert, it's all sand in the sight. I spotted around 20 Garden Eels in a group right after getting into the water and was surprised why the dive master didn't point them out for us. After 10 minutes I...

Tucia loves Diveboard - Free coupons to bring colors back to your pictures
by Ksso on August 08, 2014
Underwater photography is challenging. Not only do you need skills and gear to take a nice shot, but even with a perfect shot the end results may be a bit disappointing.
A lot of stuff come in the way of the perfect picture, namely:
Color absorption: This is why everything looks bleu at depth: red first then green are absorbed by water.
Backscatter: When you use a flash, you'll illuminate all the particles in between you and the subject you're shooting at - ending with countless small white dots everywhere in the picture
Good news : those can be fixed, and doing it properly will turn a good photo into something really amazing ! But picture fixing is really a question of skills and time. ...
iSeahorse - Saving seahorses together
by Projectseahorse on July 22, 2014
Seahorses at risk
Spotting a seahorse on a dive is always is always an exciting experience. They
are just such unique and interesting fish!
Unfortunately because of their unique biological traits they
are also more vulnerable to threats like habitat destruction and overfishing.
Every year, 15 to 20 million seahorses are caught and
traded, dead and alive, all over the world. In order to better protect
these little guys we need more data on them. This is where iSeahorse comes in!
iSeahorse
iSeahorse is a tool which absolutely anyone, anywhere can use.
If you see a seahorse in the
wild, simply go to the

Great Key Largo Diving on the USCG Duane!
by Sdweller on July 01, 2014
The diving here in Key Largo in June has been about as good as anyone can remember lately. Flat calm seas have been the norm for about 8 days and counting, and the weather forecast for Key Largo predicts more of the same for as far ahead as they forecast. As most of you know, we now are running more consistantly to the deeper wrecks with the addition of the HMS Minnow to our operation.
The USCG Duane and the Spiegel have been amazing this summer. First, for those of you who are not familiar…the USCG Duane is a 329-foot cutter that was decommissioned on August 1st, 1985. The ship was intentionally sunk on November 27, 1987 off of Key Largo, Florida Keys, to create an artificial reef....
Diving with the X-15 Monofin Hydrofoil
by Nico Danan on June 19, 2014
I recently took the new Oceanic Omega 3.0 regulator for a few scuba dives in both the Mediterranean sea and Kauai. I really have nothing but good thing to say about this rather small and stylish redesigned and improved regulator. In high currents and challenging workload situation the Omega 3.0 surprised me with a smooth and constant air delivery. Although not a huge fan of side exhaust second stage, the Omega 3.0 won me over taking my stream of bubble away from my face and behind me , opening my field of view while I was cruising the Hawaiian coral reef.
