Species Identified

Gymnothorax thyrsoideus (Richardson, 1845) (slender moray) Fairly common inhabitant of reef flats where it is usually encountered in shallow tidal pools. Often in shipwrecks; usually in pairs or small aggregations, and shares habitat with other morays .
Heteractis magnifica (Quoy and Gaimard, 1833) (Magnificent sea anemone)
Sphyraena putnamae Jordan & Seale, 1905 (Barracuda) Found near prominent current-swept lagoons or seaward reefs . Also in bays and inner turbid lagoons . Nocturnally active, but occurring in relatively large schools during the day . Sold fresh or processed into fish cakes .

Scomberoides commersonnianus Lacepède, 1801 (Talang queenfish) Inhabits coastal waters, frequently near reefs and offshore islands . Occasionally found in estuaries. Usually in small groups . Feeds on fishes, cephalopods, and other pelagic prey .
Gnathanodon speciosus (Forsskål, 1775) (Golden trevally) Occur in deep lagoon and seaward reefs where they feed by rooting for crustaceans and other invertebrates in the sand. Also feed on small fishes. Small juveniles live among the tentacles of jellyfish . Form schools. No...
