Rough dive. Didn't eat well enough before and I didn't have enough weight in my BC. It was really difficult to sink myself, so I kept fighting to go down. When I would put slight amounts of air into my BC, I would shoot up to the top. Got a bad headache and nausea. I had to sit on the surface for about 30 minutes. Not a great way to start my first of four dives for cert. This was my first open water dive.

Second dive was far better. I added a bunch more weight and after my stomach had settled down, I went back in. I sank properly this time. Visibility was not great. Sandy bottom and a lot of student divers kicking up dirt. Threw up a bit into my reg...gross...

First dive of second certification day. Got more sleep, ate a good breakfast, and added an appropriate amount of weight. Far better dive. Conditions were milder and floor wasn't as murky/sandy. More wildlife out on this dive. Tons of jellies, bio-luminescent ones! Picked up some great looking crabs (I put them back).

Second dive we practiced under emergency maneuvers (no air ascent, reg recovery, buddy tow, hand signals). Followed Janine around for a bit through kelp.
