Species Identified

Pterois volitans (Linnaeus, 1758) (Red lionfish)
Ameloctopus litoralis Norman, 1992 (Octopus)
Sphyraena putnamae Jordan & Seale, 1905 (Barracuda) Found near prominent current-swept lagoons or seaward reefs . Also in bays and inner turbid lagoons . Nocturnally active, but occurring in relatively large schools during the day . Sold fresh or processed into fish cakes .
Sufflamen fraenatum (Latreille, 1804) (Masked triggerfish) Inhabit coastal rocky reefs, often silty habitats and in lagoons on open sand . Found over sand and rubble patches of seaward reefs . Benthopelagic . Feed on echinoids, fishes, mollusks, tunicates, crustaceans, algae, polychaete worms, foraminiferans and detritus. Oviparous .
