2016-09-17 - Morrison Springs, Ponce De Leon, Fl, United States

7.6m - 40 min

This was the first dive for our PADI advanced class. We started w/ Navigation. Both me and Patricia had on 3mm farmer johns top and bottom. We started with 16 lbs of weight but I had an aluminum tank and she had a steel tank. We both went to 8 lbs and was still able to sink no issues. Patricia struggled w/ buoyancy due to the heavy weights

2016-09-17 - Morrison Springs, Ponce De Leon, Fl, United States

7.6m - 20 min

For our second dive we did Search and Rescue and practiced our knots and using the lift bag to carry up a weight belt. We had roughly a 17 min surface interval between dives

2016-09-17 - Morrison Springs, Ponce De Leon, Fl, United States

11.9m - 41 min

This was our last dive in the springs and man we were ready to be done. That water was cold and it was sprinkling/raining throughout the day. This one we just did the Nitrox for PADI. We already passed the test for NAUI and had been using Nitrox for the first two dives. Basically we just swam around and practiced our skills. Definitely need more practice w/ buoyancy.

2016-09-18 - Hathaway Bridge Span #1, Panama City Beach, Florida, United States

22.3m - 36 min

This was our first time diving a bridge span and the second time diving with Panama City Diving. We got to the marina around 7:30 and the boat departed around 8. It was a 45 minute ride out to the dive site. The weather was overcast and sprinkling. Red Sea Tugboat had some people around and so we went to the Hathaway Bridge Span #1. I went in the water with an aluminum tank, 8 lbs of weight (same as freshwater), but only the top of my 3mm wet suit. Unfortunately it wasn't enough weight and I added an extra 8 lbs while holding to the line, rushing to get down. Patricia used a steel tank and 12 lbs of weight. This was considered our Deep Dive so Steve had some different colors and shined a light on them so we could see the effects that the depth had on light. We were only about 70 ft deep. We swam around the bridge span then through it. We saw a lot of minnows and a few angel fish. There was supposedly a barracuda nearby, but I never saw it.

2016-09-18 - Red Sea Tugboat, Panama City Beach, Florida, United States

22.9m - 40 min

This was our 2nd boat dive of the day and it was the Red Sea. It was still sprinkling and there was two boats there already. One was a small fishing boat and the other was a boat with two divers that had air compressors, but no tanks. We waited until they were finished to tie in. We had gone to this wreck the last time we were in PCB. This time I still had the top half of my wetsuit, but I used a 4 and a 3 lb weight bag on each side, for a total of 14 lbs plus an aluminum tank. This was considered our Wreck Dive so we drew it on our white slate and got the depths at the various levels of the ship. Then as we were swimming around we saw a Barracuda and a Goliath Grouper. The grouper had to be more than 150 lbs. We followed it into the wreck and swam in and out of the boat a couple of times. Then we went back down towards the bow, where we tied off, but this time we went on the sand and chose a couple of sea shells. Overall there were a lot of smaller fish swimming around and it was a good time. We were both nauseated from the first dive, but felt fine after the second dive.
