Diver's Notes

We went to move a small wreck over a few feet. Since its sinking, it had been covered with mussels, and silt had grown deep in the bottom, adding much to the weight. Using 600 pounds of lift, we successfully moved the wreck over.
Since I was the only one to have used a lift bag, I led the dive. One diver Nick, was designated to photograph, while the initial bag was attached to the light side of the wreck. I returned the cabin of the craft to retrieve the 500CB bag and 13 cu.ft. pony bottle (air for the larger bag) after the 100CB was attached. After that,Nick stopped shooting photos and the real work began.
Weight and time, had pressed the hull into the silt effectively bonding the boat to the bottom. We four, took up strategic positions around the boat and began rocking and lifting at the same time. The viz became poor, and conditions were degrading rapidly. I was at the prow lifting, when I felt the boat become light. Quickly moving to the larger bag at the starboard side, I added air to the straining 500CB. The boat lifted and we guided it to its new position.
Bubbles seemed to fill the cloudy water when I started dumping air from the 500CB's ball-valve. As the wreck found its way to the bottom, I could see smiles on the faces of the other divers. We had won!
