Diver's Notes

Extremely hard work.

All of Greg's tanks had been under filled, so we started with less air than usual, and I was using a gage that measured in PSI, so I had didn't read it as well as my usual.

We descended from the south side - on the swim out, some spearfishers told Greg that the viz was bad and the current was strong, but I just thought they were exaggerating. We swam against the current on the sea floor to the west side of the island. I felt like I was getting an incredibly good workout - which made regulating my air consumption very difficult. By the time we got to the fun part of the dive, I had emptied my tank and had to buddy breathe with Gao.

I had been able to see my tank emptying, which had made me anxious. Buddy breathing with Gao was very calming, because he held my hand as we moved toward the exit point. His breathing is very steady and he doesn't move much in the water.
