2018-06-09 - El Toro, Santa Ponca, Mallorca, Spain

27.4m - 44 min - Dived with Nico from Zoea Mallorca

5mm wetsuit w Mares thermal shirt, hood, boots. Diving with Zoea Mallorca, as I did in 2009 when here last time, although think they have moved premises! In the group: Bert & Mark (“BV”) from work, guide Nico and Sven (German). Dive site El Toro, buoy 5. A bit tentative at first (4 yrs since last dive!) but settled in and had a v pleasant time, particularly in the second half when we came up a bit shallower and the life was more colourful and plentiful. Saw an octopus eating a v big dead tuna! Couple more octopi in holes, big grouper and other assorted small fish. Didn’t venture into the (small) cave at the end to see the air pockets as only had 60bar left at that point, maybe should have done. A little bit chilly towards the end, will take them up on the offer of a wetsuit vest next time!

2018-06-10 - Pecio Cala Monjo, Majorca & Cabrera Islands, Spain

15.2m - 42 min - Dived with Zoea Mallorca

5mm wetsuit w hooded wetsuit vest beneath, boots. Diving with Zoea Mallorca again as per yesterday. Confirmed they have moved premises since I was here in 2009! In the group: Bert & Mark (“BV”) from work, and Sven (German from yesterday). On our own with no guide. Dive site Cala Monjo. Swim through a 20m long cave to start with - same as in 2009. A bit tentative again and although ok at first, about halfway through got a bit unsettled when my reg started making an odd wheezing noise. Everything else seemed ok and once we came up a bit shallower I was happier. Nowhere near as much life at this site but still some nice shoals of fish and a couple of barracuda. Warmer in the hooded vest. Shame we have to fly tomorrow morning otherwise a second dive would have been good.
