Check out dive on Seaventures Rig. Mucky, debris and machinery scattered bottom beneath 6 enormous pillars of the rig. Lots of things to poke around. Wrecked cars, boats, artificial reefs built around sunken structures. mantis shrimp out in the open Nudibranch, 3 Large eel wrapped in crocodile fish

Dive 2/3 on Sipadan day 1. Huge school of swarming jacks, hundreds and hundreds, a barrel of them with a single travally hunting through. Large school juvenile barracuda.

Dive 3/3 on Sipadan day 1. So many sharks. White tips and grey reefs in the deep. Three white tip sharks being cleaned, could get up close to see. Small schools of barracuda. Massive schools of batfish two feet around like dinner plates.

Solo dive under the Seaventures house rig, v. fun getting bearings and learning landmarks. Very well camoflauged rock fish x2 Mantis shrimp hiding Absolutely massive eel hiding in a pipe, maybe 2’ wide Crocodile fish, several School of bat fish on descent from platform Giant box fish resting his head in a pipe

Sipadan Day 2 Descended into massive crowds of ppl. Cranky. Separated from crowds and had 3 beautiful moments: 1) waterfalls of triggerfish pouring down from a wall over us 2) getting caught in a large stream of barracuda about 4’ away - maybe 50-75 of them 3) following a school of hundreds of barracuda as the formed a massive, eldritch horror-esque ball churning through the murky water above us and off in the middle distance some sharks

Staghorn site at Sipadan Dropped onto a wall and floated along at a good clip at about 15-20 meters. Lots of sharks, big grouper sleeping. Overcast conditions, but if it hadn’t been, it would have been gorgeous to see the sub coming down from over the wall. Ended by cutting back up the wall and ended in a sunny, flat staghorn coral garden.

“Drop off” site at Sipadan. Entered into a pretty, lively plateau and dropped off a wall immediately. Floated alongside shallow and deep rifts with lots of hidey holes. Massive sleeping turtle in hole. Smaller one in hole. Midsize one sleeping in open like Elvira. RK caught in school of batfish. Chased small grouper. Huge patches of adorable garden eels towards end. Large happy fans along wall.

Just RK, me, and guide. Left Seaventures 8am for short boat ride to Kapalai resort. Descended onto artificial reef and immediately saw large moray. Amir took us to an artificial metal mesh structure and pointed out two tiny sea dragons, about an inch or two long. Pale and wiry and almost indistinguishable from the matter clinging to the mesh, aside from a small abdomen bump before their head. Proceeded to sandy bottom. Many sunken house like structures covered in soft sea stars. Two huge groupers hiding in structures. Moray near base of structures. Some nudis. Then turned back to artificial reef slope and almost immediately guide spotted small, pitch black frogfish with white smiths about the size of a golf ball. Mantis shrimp wandering out in the open about two feet away. Three feet further, ann amazing frogfish. Large, tennis ball sized. Bright green and covered in cream and reddish brown cami spots with filaments all over. Two “angler” protrusions. Was walking at a good clip down the slope on large feet with gill jets near armpits. On return to top of reef, I passed over a large octopus in a crevice. Changed colors and sunk down. Watched it a while. Outstanding dove. Also, tiny tiny polka dot yellow box fish

Poor vis, low current on this side of Mabul. Dropped in on slope - lots of debris and several boats, including one large cargo vessel. Made our way across shady bottom - transparent tiny dancer shrimp on soft coral. RK spotted2 very witchy looking flying gurnard making their way across the bottom. Made it to boats, including one absolutely full of eels. Huge huge one at hole at front of boat, several smaller ones along side. Looped back to shallow slope, lots of nudis incl long one that looked like frosted purple jelly with white ring and orange lungs. Beautiful cuttlefish swimming at end of dive - got to observe for a while while it changed colors. V cool juvenile batfish.

Not a lot going on, but a very quiet, calm dive on a sandy bottom littered w sunken dive boats. Several long, slender pipefish; 1 fish and 1 eel (?) w head sticking out. Multiple eels incl 1 huge w shrimps next to it.

Not a lot goin on - just pokin around the house reef. Lots of nudis and a yellow spotted ray. School of juvie barracuda.

Drop off wall dive - large flowing school of barracuda in a gully followed by a black tip about 6’ coming up on RK. Small cute lobster hiding in wall. Floated down a long wall - NB v close encounter w turtle and 4.5’ grey reef shark coming from distance to within an arm’s reach. Reached pinnacle after wall and came across massive school of 2-300 barracuda. Swam along with them in a strong current for a while before peeling off. Sharks all around in distance. RK spotted three circling on sandy bottom in strong strong current.

Dropped into v lg school of jacks in a big churning ball. Began long drift along wall. Tons of turtles. Tons of sharks. Two turtles almost crashing into each other.

Beautiful wall dive. Huge leopard shark.
