Bunked with John from Iceland, and we buddied up with Keely and Leah. Pretty good diving.

Friendly crew, routine yet good business for all sorts of divers
My first dives at the Great Barrier Reef as part of a family vacation with many non dives. The boats are in good shape, big and stable, and the liveaboard boat stays on the reef 24/7. A day trip boat with snorkels and single divers going out daily and serves as shuttle for those that stay longer on the reef. The rooms on the boat have AC (waaayyy to cold). They move about 70 divers/snorklers/daytrip people a day. Food is excellent and plenty, water, coffee, tea all the time. Booking far ahead not necessary, but keep a month to be sure in high season. Staff professional, relaxed, friendly and attentive. They speak many languages and are routined in the the entire matter. Only thing to note is that the equipment is safe, but under quite some use. If you do have your own gear, it is always advisable. We had masks / computer, wish we had our wetsuits (my buddy was XXS, that was an issue, Ozzies are tall and big). Can only recommend! Overall a great experience and would do again. Good value for the price.

Absolutely a must..
This is my second time staying and diving with Deep Sea Divers Den, and it just gets better. The vessel I was staying is the Ocean Quest, a large boat that sleeps 40 passengers. Each room has its own bathroom and shower, and the rooms are clean. There is a lounge with a small bar, sit back on the couches between or after dives and relax watching TV. The kitchen is one level below the lounge room. They serve a good variety of food and was never hungry whilst on the boat. There's plenty of fruit from the basket for a snack between meals available anytime. Alcoholic, carbonated drinks and snacks area extra cost which you can purchase at the bar. The equipment are in good shape and condition and all equipment rental is included in the dive package. You do have to pay extra if you want to hire a camera or a more powerful torch during the night dives. The crew, they are all the friendliest and most helpful. They are knowledgeable about the dive various dive sites, and are always on the watch for the safety of the divers and snorkelers, when out in the water. Keep in mind that to have a guided dive is an extra $15, and its well worth having a guide, but once you are familiar with the area you can go ahead and explore the area with your buddy. Each dive site is close to another, so the boat does not travel to far thus allowing more dive time. The night dives are awesome.
