2019-07-24 - Pink Panther, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
22m - 45 min - Dived with Lulu from Hideaway Island Resort
Dive Buddies: Elizabeth and Peter; Guide: Lulu; Driver: Kevin. This was supposed to be the Gothom City site but the mooring buoy was missing (thanks to local fishermen). We were then 'towed' to where Gothom City was supposed to be but boys couldn't find it, so back in the boat and head off to Pink Panther as the alternative dive site. Great to be back in Vanuatu warm water diving in crystal clear water. All the fish were still there including black and white banded seas snake. Skies were cloudy and the water was rough-ish by historical standards - still calmer than anything like Montague Island.
2019-07-25 - Kathleen, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
25.3m - 43 min - Dived with Kevin from Hideaway Island Resort
Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth, Guides: Lulu/Kevin First dive of the morning. Sun shining, skies blue, weather warm, seas flat. Easy entry and Kathleen is looking really good. So many fish. Even saw a turtle and cuttlefish. Huge Titan Trigger Fish kept us company for a while. Other fish included Angelfish, Bannermen, Butterfly fish and a Razor Clam
2019-07-25 - Bonzer Wreck, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
22m - 49 min - Dived with Kevin from Hideaway Island Resort
Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth, Guides: Kevin/Lulu. Clownfish colony was thriving, with so many tiny fish. Titan Trigger came to check us out. Kevin was our guide this time (Lulu gets too cold for two dives a morning). Really enjoyed going over Bonzer wreck a bit more than normal (smaller group I guess). Peter entered the hold and got a photo in the wheel house. A really enjoyable dive to finish the morning off.
2019-07-26 - West Side Story, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
22.6m - 49 min - Dived with Lulu from Hideaway Island Resort
Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth, Guides: Lulu/Dexter. West Side Story this morning - cloudy day with rain in the early morning. Seas were calm but cloud made it quite dark under water. Still plenty of fish life down here though and staghorn coral and plate coral. Saw the BABY REEF SHARKS under some plate coral - very cute. Stunning purple clam, assorted anemone fish, and even a crayfish hiding in its hole. Vast fields of staghorn coral spread out like a green meadow underwater was the highlight though.
2019-07-26 - The Anchor, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
16.7m - 50 min - Dived with Lulu from Hideaway Island Resort
Anchor Reef for our second dive today. Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth, Guides: Lulu. It was still really overcast and the swell had picked up too. Black Snapper were schooling around the mooring line. Started to take my first nudie shots (Elizabeth what have you done to me?)- blue strip[ed and white spotted. Cornetfish, Clark's Anemone Fish. Peter and Lulu played a game with their regs which made the anemone fish come out to play - getting very feisty!
2019-07-27 - The Abyss, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
26.9m - 47 min - Dived with Lulu from Hideaway Island Resort
Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth, Guides: Lulu. Today was much sunnier than the previous day and the seas were a lot flatter. Big drop off wall with lots of crevices and crannies to go looking in. Peter did his 'deep test' ('cos he could) - just hanging in 'the blue'. Nudies aplenty and lots of tiny clownfish colonies.
2019-07-27 - East Side Story, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
22.5m - 48 min - Dived with Lulu from Hideaway Island Resort
Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth and joined by Russian Maria. Guide: Lulu. The other side of West Side Story this morning. Maria (day tripper) joined us as a tag along - relatively inexperienced but very keen to get lots of pics. Staghorn coral, anemone fish, damsel fish, purple and blue striped tiny fish (possibly juvenile blue stripe cleaner wrasse?). Really pretty bannerfish and Peter found another crayfish.
2019-07-27 - Shore Dive 1, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
20.1m - 54 min - Dived with Lulu from Hideaway Island Resort
Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth (& Maria), Guides: Lulu/Brian. This was a great dive to catch up with Brian (who is going for his DM's ticket). Reef dive was a bit silty with low visibility (by Vanuatu standards) but some cool fish and even a large octopus in a rock near the jetty mooring buoy. Threadfin Butterfly fish, Electric blue neon damsel fish, Trevally, Whitetail Dascyllus, Lionfish and a really cool sea slug.
2019-07-28 - Gothom City, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
25.8m - 48 min - Dived with Lulu from Hideaway Island Resort
Dive Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth, Guides: Lulu/Kevin Finally rediscovered the marker buoy for Gothom City. Day seems a little bit brighter and the seas a little bit calmer....but the cloud rolled in while we were 'under'. Saw Longfin Bannerfiosh and Nudies (with horns up). Clown colonies with "One Stripe Tomato Anemone"
2019-07-28 - Kathleen, Mele Bay, Vanuatu
21.8m - 54 min - Dived with Lulu from Hideaway Island Resort
Buddies: Peter/Elizabeth; Guides: Lulu/Dexter. Last dive of the holiday and its back to Kathleen. We ALL went into 'deco' this dive. Giant Trevally around the mooring line and a Trigger Fish that would just NOT leave us alone. More Nudies (yellow with brown skirt - horns up). Even saw a dwarf/pygmy Lionfish !!! More Clark's Anemone Fish, Juvenile Black and White Snapper, Cuttlefish, Two Flathead heavily camouflaged - don't know how Lulu spots them. And Rainbow Wrasse
