Not great viz on this lovely wreck today but still a great dive. Seems that the winter storms have shifted things around a bit especially the bit just aft of the boilers. tried to find our way back towards the stern section but didn't get there. Lots of ladies shoes and snacks dotted around the wreck. Followed the wreck back in to find the cart wheels. Also found a set of saw blades in there.
Amazing to finally get onto this wreck. ... I thought it was an Ulsac myth that there was actually anything there. Turned out to be quite a bit of wreckage but the boiler has broken away. Pretty chuffed to have got the shot so close this time bang on the transits. Had a nice time pootling around with everyone else on the wreck before trucking off into the reef.
Cracking dive with Michelle. Saw lots and spent quite a bit of time inside. Love how the stern is turning into a lovely looking wreck now. Was amazed by the sections where the paint still hasn't deteriorated and there is no marine life growing on it.
Viz not so great this afternoon but nice to poke around on the boiler and other wreckage. Chris like me loves poking around in all the little cracks looking for things. Managed to spot a cat shark that Chris tried to stroke but it wasn't too fond of that so scooted away. Lots of stones flaked off like sheets of slate underwater. Interesting to see how the sedimentary rock had sheered away as I've not really seen it like that above water ever. Later just after Chris had been blowing me kisses another cat shark came swimming past us. A nice way to perk up the dive. Weather was blowing a bit so we were just pleased to be out on some nice proper diving.
What a lovely lovely dive. Little bit dark underwater but the viz was pretty good and with torches the wreck stood out wonderfully. Lots of sea cucumbers but sadly not mating this time around. The shot was right by the 4 metre diameter boilers and right in the middle of the wreckage which is pretty flattened around the boilers. Loads of great bits to poke our heads into. Found a chunky conger at one point underneath a large metal sheet with lots of pretty fan coral on it. Found what could either have been the engine or a very large winch. There was also a strange half circle thing that looked like it might rotate. When we reached our no stop time we headed up since it was pretty chilly for Eric in his semi dry since he had ripped the seal off on Saturday. Lovely dive and definitely glad to get out despite the chilly weather and rain. Then into the pool for a dip before a pub dinner. .... Top easter Sunday!
Had a cat shark swim up to us within about a minute which fulfilled dive purpose very early on. Not much else to report apart from Liz having a coughing fit under water.
