Epic to get back on these wrecks and be as good as I remember. Diving on CCR is the only way to do them.....62 mind bottom time for 15 min deco. Awesome dive. Down stern line. Saw the gun then back to see the Capetians and stern anchor. Along the rest of the wreck taking in all the sights including the shield up on the bow.

Awesome dive with Michelle….. even Nessie is starting to want to be on a rebreather now! Down the line over the hull of the wreck and onto the port rail. Down the line and tied off a small strobe (turned out to be useless in the end). But then we set off to towards the mast. Really cool looking up inside the mast at the ladder moving up in front of it. Up in the lookouts post we could easily see the eye slits and the hatch into the lookout post. Back along the mast and onto the wreck again we swam back into the hole where the guns were squashed under. absolutely massive barrels- can’t really comprehend how big the shells must have been to come out of the end of it. Clear to spot the big barrel on the top and then we moved along into the cave where it was possible to see the two other sternmost guns. Cool how the port gun has smashed its way into the teak decking (all above one’s head!) Coming back out from the gun section we came up and saw one of the side mounted casemount gun (number 7). The actual stern of the wreck is really very narrow for such a big vessel but it soon fills out when you get up past the massive twin rudders. Such a beautiful section of wreckage up here… like something from the red sea but covered in soft corals and plumose anemones. Tonnes of little poor cod, ling, pollack, cuckoo wrasse, balloon wrasse, soft corals and various out marine life around the wreck. Much much more life and things to see on this wreck compared to what I remember…. think it’s due to being on the unit, not being so narked and having great briefings.

ZOMG - this wreck was easily as good as I remembered….. see now why I picked it for my 100th! Awesome visibility and too many fish! Down behind the bridge section and then forward taking in the bridge encasing the conning tower. On forward to see the wave breakers and then onto the base of the forward guns (missing guns but looking like winches). All the way forward was coated in brittle stars- everyone was wondering whether Michelle would cope with this many all in one location! Down under the starboard side of the bow leads into the swimthrough that takes you back towards the shotline. What a great site moving through there - beyond some of the better Red Sea wreck dives even! Saw the lower parts of the capstan mechanisms for manual winding. Lots of other great features to see- all lit up by some wonderful ambient light coming through the port side of the wreck. Headed over to see the stripped 8.8 gun without correct level deck to stand on. Also saw the dropped/forgotten bronze torpedo tube next to it that Dougie forgot to salvage. Amazing that it’s supporting it’s own weight standing upright on the wreck. Back towards the bow again and checked out the indentation for the bow anchor. Looked more like a set of animal ears! Then over to the shotline to ascend with Michelle and Ali- some yo-yoing on the line as far too much slack on the line.

Can’t believe how less intimidating these wrecks are compared to last time. Didn’t feel narked at all on this dive. Amazed to have covered so much on a single dive. We came down the shotline and headed towards the bow. Was quite a current blowing with us to make the journey a little nicer but it didn’t make our traverse back aftwards any easier. The bow was really impressive although the viz didn’t really allow us to see it all. Moving back Met Ali g and Kat coming down the shotline after about 15mins of the dive and we ended up working our way along as a convoy along the gun run. Spotted 6 guns along here but not too sure whether we missed the first one or one in the wreckage. During the gun run we moved off to see the spotting tower at the top of the mast again- lot more structure and looked like two levels on this one. Sternwards we saw the portholes and pert stern before ascending through the tall rudders and up the wreck to the shotline.

Feeling very ill with food poisoning / tummy bug. Glad went in with Michelle though. Although felt very cold and feverish. Citadel wall. Stern gun cylinder with the automated lift. Turbine. Broken boiler which looks like a centipede.

Back on this battleship again- holding so much less fear than on the last trip. We came down the forward shotline and soon found the little swim through showing the two corridors. There was then a little swim through back through the bow section which brought us back onto the starboard side. Then moved our way aft along the gun run again. Think gun 7 must be well and truly buried as we couldn’t find it. Awesome to have seen all three prop shafts. The first being blasted away near the stern, second was poking into the blasted engine room and the third was a little bit sheltered away in the port engine room. Still plenty of condenser pipes around from where the turbines have been salvaged. Spent quite a bit of time in the engine room salvage pit today including poking heads through the bulkhead to the rear most boiler room (of three). Lots of little ling hanging around over the wreck today and a few cod. Up onto the top of the hull and into the gardens of brittle stars and along to the test blast holes- lots of detritus but not too much recognisable stuff. Was feeling pretty cold by the end of our 50 mins bottom time so was looking forward to getting back on board Huskyan for a cup of tea.

Cracking dive again with Nessie. Down the stern line but then moving forwards rather than aft looking for the forward gun. Seen a few f the casemate guns hidden under the detritus on the floor before reaching the 30.5cm gun hidden partially under the wreck in the silt covered in anchor chain…. nice. Then up into the hole next to Zebeddee spring to the breach of the 30.5cm gun. Pretty cool to see the end of it from this end. Then we worked our way towards the broken bow and did the whole Titanic thing again. Funny to see the bow so broken compared to the other battleships. Then back through the torpedo room salvage area and up the long side of the ship. Onto the top into the warmth and light.

Big Aztec cog. 4 guns including buried one under the mast with a friendly cuckoo wrasse living there (great video). Auxiliary steering but looked like a wireframe of a darlick.
