First dive of the trip, but not brilliant except for the fish life. The dive was a bit surgey and vis was around 10m. Massive school of kingfish as we hit the water, followed by bastard trumpeter and then big silver drummer. The usual wrasse were there as well. It was mostly bare boulders, which turned out to be pretty much the norm for the area. I'm glad the fish were there or it would have been pretty boring.
2012-01-27 - Random Wall Between Ss City Of Sydney And Ss New Guinea, Green Cape, Australia
23.2m - 45 min
Random wall we found while going to the SS City of Sydney. The fisherman were on the wreck, so rather than heading back to the New Guinea marks which we didn't trust we decided to do the wall we found on the sounder. it's basically off the point between the two wrecks and starts at about 24m and rises up to around 14m. Turned out to be a really nice wall with a good amount of fish life, and even some kelp beds. Few port jacksons as well as a catshark. Overall it was quite a good dive. Would have been even better with good vis.
SS New Guinea. nice dive, but not much of a wreck. It's pretty much just metal strewn around the place. You can also see some of the wreckage up on the rocks. Plenty of fish life on there, but I'm not sure I'd go back for the wreck.
