2 beautiful mantas and a group of 7 or 8 blue spotted sting rays, all swimming around very actively and piling on top of one another. Beautiful big green/black nudibranch as well. One of the best I've seen.
Lovely coral with beautiful growth all around. Nice triggerfish and a hawksbill turtle.
John said these were the worst conditions he had ever seen in Amed. Considering the visibility I thought the dive was excellent. Saw the biggest black tip, or any shark for that matter, that I have seen on Bali. Saw lots of impressive schools of bannerfish, moorish idols and barracuda. Great giant barrel sponges as well, one was my height, standing 2 meters!
Teaching AOW for Dario. Started with the Night Dive Specialty. Saw a napoleon wrasse right at the start of the dive. Big groupers, as always. Huge schools and tons of juveniles as well. Juvy trumpetfish. Beautiful ornate fish I had never seen before.
Dario's AOW Dive #2, wreck dive! Lots of great stuff to see, as usual. Groupers, juvenile fish abound. Juvi oriental sweetlips, and whatever those fish all over the wreck are. Garden eels. Huge squadron of squid. Bumphead. Stingray. 3 giant barracuda.
Dario's AOW, Dive #3. Navigation! Dario did well with his patterns, but was about 3 or 4 meters off while navigating in a square. Still pretty fine. Typical amazing reef life on the wreck. Love the amount of juvenile fish and the spawn every where this month!
Dario AOW #4, Deep! Very nice wreck of an old steamship that will most likely surpass the Liberty in fame, given a few years to develop, mature and grow some coral. Lovely sunken jeep anchored inside, plus a nice old wheel on the deck to steer. Love the buddha statue below deck toward the bow as well. Looks beautiful from inside and out. Lovely little nudibranch and several batfish and barracuda are already crowding the upper deck. Saw a honeycomb moray out in the muck as well.
Dario's AOW, Dive #5, Peak Performance Buoyancy! We have ourselves a new advanced open water diver!
Nice dive site with lots of different coral. Brain, whip and soft species all around. Plenty of good macro with lots of nudibranchs everywhere. Juvenile oriental sweetlips! My favorite!
What amazing soft coral growth on this wreck. Once again, plenty of macro as well. Saw a beautiful little crab. Very nice garden eels here too. Plus a nice big scorpionfish too, that Dario nearly kicked.
Dario completed his wreck diver certification today. I introduced him to number of the swim throughs on the wreck, in celebration. My macro eyes were really on this morning, spotting a ton of juvenile fish, from oriental sweetlips to a gorgeous little clown fish.
WOW! WOW! WOW! Certainly one of the best dives of my life! My macro skills only continued for the day! Dive started with a number of nudibranchs and crabs, including orangutan and decorator crabs. It only got better with a juvenile frogfish (orange) followed by white one at the end of the dive. There was a huge school of 70+ razor fish as well, a ton of very inquisitive juvy morays, not one but three harlequin shrimp, plus 4 of 5 juvenile lionfish of different types. Saw too juvy stonefish as well, all with no guide!
