First dive of week. Good to be in water after a stressful time. One bag did not arrive with us. Plus adjoining room not available and hotel one hour ahead of Egypt. All made for a lot of running around before leaving this morning. Planned to swim clockwise but a bit of current meant changing to anticlockwise. The large reef was surrounded by smaller heads. A lot of table coral. A few trevlies swam by but did not see any of the barracuda the guide suggested would be around. Tom ran very low on air and shared with guide as we went back to boat for our 3@6 stop.
In quickly and down to 20m. Followed main reef anticlockwise. Again, a lot of large heads away from the main reef. Dome and table coral. Usual fish but lots of them. Turned around once Tom hit 100 bar. Returned at around 10m. Practised forward and backward rolls. Got back to boat and Tom forced us to do 3@6 stop rather than swim for another 5 mins. Started insurance claim. I have £100 to spend on undies, swimmies and flip-flops. Whooppie.
In quickly like lemmings and down to 20m. Tom had problem clearing ear so rose a bit before going back down. Plateau too deep so seam to reef and began to drift south. After a few minutes wall became sheer. Gorgonia and soft coral clung to wall. Nice shoals of fusiliers, trevelie. Tom hit 70bar so rose to 6m and sent up buoy. Clambered in with total of 13 in the rib! Better dive than last time we were here.
Dive on south end of reef. Down to 15m and swam around coral heads on plateau. Swam to north pass moored boat. Reef really beaten around. Turned south pass boat again and then to the north on other side of reef. Tom hit 70bar so we turned again. Did our 3@6 on wall of fire coral. More fusiliers, and large Gary fish. Nice morey who came out to say hello. Several groups of clown fish who were very aggressive. Found SMB which belonged to guide.

Lovely second dive. Three pinnacles in an l-shape. Went down to 20m and around largest pinnacle. Swam across to middle sized rock then over to third one. Rose to 15m and went around three. Rose to 12m and around 3. Then to10 and finally 6m. Good sized gorgonia with long nosed hawk fish. Large shoal of fusilier being hunted by trevelly. A lot of purple soft coral. One very white anemone with clown fish. Tom went into one cave without any growth. Tried to leave but couldn't. He had the contents gauge stuck. Glad it didn't come off when I pulled him. After that scare we continued on our way. Lost Diana for a few minutes. Very pretty.
Surface swim and the down to 15m. Individual coral heads on a sandy bottom. Made our way to wreck of Chinese tug. Found prop buried in sand. Went to starboard side and then right under it. Went under some cross members but nothing to see. Followed reef around at about 15m. Lots of large coral heads with small fish in residence. Tom played with sand. At 100bar we turned and swam back to wreck at 10m. Large group of glass fish in bridge. Found heads. Swam back to boat via coral head navigation. Tom and I went snorkelling and tight rope walking.
Surface swim and then through arch into lagoon. Viz poor so found our way to outside of reef through swim threws. Viz outside was amazing. Reef wall on right plus arms of coral heading to deeper water. H and D saw a turtle. Tom found a morey that he tried to bury in sand. Tried the same with a blue spotted ray but it swam off. Lots of shoaling yellow goatfish. A few circling travel lies where current strongest. After 60mins Tom was getting low on air so did 3@6 and headed for boat. A large group of halfbeak alongside boat at 10cm. Good value day. Despite long rolly steam back to hamata.
Off boat and down to 15m. Reef on right shoulder. Found pinnacles after about 10mins. Tom behaved very badly. Nice snapper, some small grouper, travellies. Found a lovely swim through. Rose to 12m. For return to boat. 3@6 on reef then climbed aboard.
Swam to pinnacle in south eastern corner. Into cavern at 9m. Swam around "room" anticlockwise and put through eastern entrance. 10m further was entrance to smaller cavern. Swam around this one anticlockwise too. Both were full of squirrel fish. Once out of cavern we dropped to 15m and continued clockwise around reef. Fantastic coral heads that merged into one another. Lots of the usual reef fish plus a few predators. Reached the three pinnacles on the north side and decided to continue around reef. On west side there were more large pinnacles each with its own colony of fish. On south east corner there was a boat messing about on surface. Very noisy. Fish didn't seem to care. As we round corner 8-10bat fish cruised by. On 80bar so went through first cavern again. As we came outside a large tuna swam by. 3@6 on reef wall then swan to boat. Another great dive on this site.
Swam clockwise despite a bit of current running from the north. The large reef was surrounded by smaller heads. A lot of table coral. A few trevlies swam by. A few big grouper. Found rock with hole in it and a couple of gorgonia. No hawkfish. Swam all the way around reef. Saw submerged tarpaulin and recognised where we were. around pinnacle on southeast corner. Between main reef and pinnacle was a nimo city. Finished on top of pinnacle watching small fish. Saw a couple of unusual blenny-like fish.
