This was the last dive of the trip because hurricane Irma is coming and we have to leave early, but it was probably the best one! There were a ton of great swim throughs. We had to turn around in one because there were several lionfish blocking the way. We saw some reef sharks, a trumpetfish, Atlantic spadefish, and all the normal ones. A great dive!

This was my first wall dive, but, alas, it was very frustrating as I never did see the wall. I thought Billy and I communicated that he, Jen and I would meet at the bottom of the mooring line, but communication got crossed. I found a swim-thru that I thought would lead me to the wall, but I popped up after swimming for a bit and found myself nearly going in circles. Jen was not behind me, either, so I figured I would see what was going on. She couldn't clear her ears, so she was still at the entrance to the swim through (which was about 20 foot down a hole/shaft before continuing along the bottom of the floor). We met back up, and found Suzanne. She was making her way out, but after following for a bit, we realized she was going in a different direction. We turned toward the wall from above, and started swimming toward it. I was within yards of the edge, but noticed that I didn't have enough air to safely make it out, down, and back. So we turned around and headed back for the boat. Hindsight, I had plenty of air to at least make it to the edge, I think. But I was very frustrated and my SAC rate was low because of all of the unnecessary swimming and looking for our buddies. I'm still not sure what happened to the plan. Very frustrated, but we have plenty of dives left, so hopefully I'll be able to see a wall yet! Notable sites included the swim-through itself, being deep within a canyon of coral, maybe 20 feet or so up on all sides. Also saw a small school of grunts, forming a very tight ball above the reef. On our way to the edge of the wall, I saw several Atlantic Spadefish, my first siting of these beautiful fish! Not a great experience, but a lesson learned. A good dive nonetheless, as we made it back to the boat!
