First dive at Boracay. Nice reef - good diversity. Visibility wasn't as good as expected. First time with new equipment - all good except mask hits nose uncomfortably. Love having the computer & camera, but no decent shots because I still don't have the right settings.

Melodee's Fish ID for Advanced. Anchor dropped overhead and landed only 10 meters away. Apparently, this is one of the main causes of diver injury around Boracay. No special observations.

Melodee's Buoyancy Dive for Advanced. Dove in a shallow reef that is popular for Discover Scuba. There were at least 30+ divers when we went under, many being dragged along by their DM's. Hysterical, but also annoying.

Went with Normal on shallow dive. Water entered regulator while descending - Normal checked valves, but didnt' fix the problem. Switched to secondary and discovered the mouthpiece on first was cracked. Continued dive, but realized a heavy regulator gets tiring. Observed large orange frogfish (camera was out of batteries), tiny moray, various shrimp, and stonefish.

Melodee's Deep Dive for Advanced. Instructor determined the west side of island was too rough and there was no deeper dive on the east side. We dropped over a sandy patch, where we saw a pufferfish nesting and collection of large purple tube worms. Eventually found the reef before completing dive.

18m - 43 min - Dived with Aqualife Divers Academy
First dive on west side of island. Expected current, but there was none. The surface was a bit choppy, but didn't even use my snorkel. My low pressure hose was disconnected from my BCD prior to entry. I asked the diver next to me to turn off my tank so I could reconnect it. She had no idea what I was talking about and later asked me what the problem was with my BCD. This is when I began to realize the average diver simply trusts the dive shop to set up their equipment. This, combined with other conversations, showed me that the average recreational diver is fairly incompetent. The dive itself was uneventful. Saw some groupers and other larger fish.

Required 6 min deco stop, ran out of air towards end of 6 mins.
Yapak 2 wall. Severe sinus congestion, so second DM joined in case I needed to surface. Was painful about 15 m, then suddenly cleared and had no problems for the rest of the dive. Good visibility on the wall. Saw 2 white tipped reef sharks. Current was strong but not difficult.
