Diver's Notes

Car Pile. We did this as an independent dive out of The Dive Bus. Great Shop. I had done this dive a few years ago. You walk across the road from the shop to the beach. Take the walkway between the two small buildings and enter via the beach. A few strokes to the breakwater and decend. The coral starts very near the rocky breakwater along a plateau before sloping down the reef. At about the 10 minute mark we started our decent and arrived at the barge resting in about 28 metres. We then turn back but continued our decent into the car pile itself. A few years ago there were more recognizable cars. they were sunken cars from Cuba. 1950s era. It is mostly a rust pile now but there was still a large upturned tractor-trailer with the tires still intact.

Not much bottom time at 35 metres so after a short stay we started our gradual ascent, riding the two-minute NDL back to the top of the reef. Then spent some time in the shallows before entering the bay again. It was quite a nice dive. All the usual species were seen but in the past there were more large tarpon.
