I started diving to have an activity that I shared with my teenage daughter. Absolutely fell in love wit the sport and will get in the water at any opportunity. My whole family is now certified and we have found it to be a wonderful family activity. My parents who are in their 70s also got certified in 2012 and it has now truly become an activity the entire family enjoys.

2013-07-03 United States Blue Grotto Dive Resort, Williston, Florida
Blue GrottoGreat Viz (over 100 ft). Blue Grotto is a smallish cavern that is safely accessible to OW divers. There is a cave system for cave divers that goes to a max depth of 100 ft and takes the dive in a circuit around the back of the cavern. A dive light is needed. I didn't go into the cave although I was sorely tempted to try it. The cavern is really big and is spectacular. You can always see daylight from the mouth of the cavern so I never felt uncomfortable with overhead. There is also a diving bell at 35 ft that you can stick your head in and talk to your dive buddy. Divers were: Myself, Amy, Stew, and Dad. Lots of fun but I got pretty cold in a 3 mm suit.

Eureka SpringsThis dive was to take stock video for a documentary Emily is making for her film class. We dove the bluffs at the Beaver Lake North Dam Site. The thermocline was very sharp at about 26 ft. At 40Ft the water temp was uncomfortably cold so we kept our depth too around 25-35 ft. Viz was poor by most standards but OK by Beaver Lake standards. We had maybe 15 ft at most. We entered the water at the boat ramp and proceeded south until we reached the bluffs then followed them further south until we reached 1800 lbs of air. At this point we turned around and headed back north the way we came until we reached our dive flag and followed our line up to the surface. We made a surface swim back to the boat ramop where we exited the water.
