11m - 41 min

First confined water dive of ADP course. Covered a few first drills but mainly focused on getting the buoyancy and trim sorted since it was really days in using a stage. Drills we went through included fin pivots, static gas switch, helicopter turns and 1m increment ascent.

9m - 34 min

2nd confined water dive on ADP. With Hannah and Ken. Covered the second load of skills- mainly based around the landrover so we weren't too deep for switching to rich mix. Skills included: out of gas swimming response, dynamic reg switching, mid-water DSMB, reg switch at first stop depth and a simulated deco stop. Note for future- don't teach mid water DSMB over deep water which gives the students too far to drop.

35m - 34 min

First open water dive on the ADP. Taking in Hannah and Ken again. This dive felt like quite a step up for the two of them compared to the confined water dives. There was a fair bit of extra task loading and I think the two of them were a bit narked too- Hannah kept asking for my air as she thought I was Ken! Dived from the southerly end of the platform straight down the wall to 35m. Ken caused a silt avalanche down the wall and plummeted to 16m before I stopped him to do his bubble check. Things got a bit more on track as we got to 30m although Ken took off at a few points and the two of them acted like they were on a solo dive pretty much. Ken tried climbing up the wall as we ascended which was amusing but another since of narcosis ;-) Up onto the flat and along to the Cardiff double decker and then the jet fuselage. At 16min we started ascending, sent up DSMBs and then gas switched onto 80% and did our deco stops before ascending. A bit of a tough debrief came afterwards but they certainly took the message onboard as next dive was great!

28m - 32 min

Second open water dive and what a difference. Both Ken and Hannah demonstrated great buoyancy and trim, as well as communication and run time management. Similar profile as before although we visited the double decker then the single deck bus underneath the diving platform before ascents and gas switching for deco stops. Really nice little dive actually and very pleased with the progress that the students made.
