Wall dive. Lots of coral that looked like warm water coral. Dead men's fingers. Sea Life changed as we moved a long the wall. Plumose anemones towards the end. Awesome ccr dive. Massive kelp leaves about 10m and viz gone bad again. Snotty looking egg sacks. Cuttlefish hiding in sand just eyes showing. Felt very settled. Scorpion fish. Nudibranch on a sea squirt .

2015-08-03 - Shuna Wreck, Highlands and Islands, United Kingdom

34m - 53 min

Amazed that I've not dived this wreck before as it was a really good dive. Bit dark and silty but plenty to see in this dive with Nessa. Turned out the book was wrong and you could see a huge amount of the main prop in place covered in loads of anemones and fan worms. Really far underneath the stern to the prop. Hold 5 and 1 had lots of coal in them. Thought about bringing some up for Owen. Didn't wanna go into the engine room as it looked pretty mucky after all the other divers being in there. So steered clear of it. Back up on deck we saw the spare prop but not the anchor. Few different winches around the place. And funnels/mast still upright. The decking on top of focscle was starting to work away so you could see in. Nice sharp bow on it that Nessa did some dancing have reached it.

Asked Nessa to dive this wonderful wreck with me. Such a great wreck and still one of the best in the UK. Festooned with life in colourful plumose anemones, fan worms, dead men's fingers, jewel anemones and much more. Saw a couple of nudibtanchs, plenty of swim throughs, especially down the superstructure and into the wheel house. Confused to have reached the stern first as thought we would be at the bow but such an impressive vista even with the prop missing. Did lead to the first section of the most saw toothed profile ever! With the wreck being on such a list you end up going up and down a vast amount, which isn't ideal on the unit but a pleasant necessity with such a great wreck.

39m - 62 min

Lots of life including a conger, some scallops (for our starters), lots of soft corals, pin cushion star fish, a nice big crayfish, scorpion fish, bloody Henry or two and tonnes of other stuff. Once again most of our dive was below 20m.... Perfect ccr diving. Prawn cracker sponges which look like something from warm waters.

What an awesome dive. Working our way back up the wreck with belly and Bruce. Funny seeing all the open circuit guys pinging past us then working way back up. Very dark at depth and was nice coming back into the light as we ascended. We all pretty much scattered across the wreck but knew we could just come back to each other if we just kept at same depths. Bumped into Nessa who was with ken and very forthright about buddying up and heading up the wreck together. Tonnes of nudibranchs especially up on rudder u in the shallows. Ended up staying up there for quite some time as marks unit had a pressure sensor failure. Pretty place to have that problem though so was more than happy hanging around there.

Wicked dive with vic on this big wreck which confirmed to me that this is like the thistlegorm of the UK. Spent a lot of time swimming between the holds on the weather deck as one does in the Red Sea. Found a baby flat fish on the deck. Laughed at andy trying to squeeze himself into the focscle. Later on found tonnes of tiles in one hold. Then lots of wooden boxes ad also bags of cement dotted around the wreck. Ken managed to pull up eight pint glasses from the silt in one of the holds. Back to the stern and a very funny little steering house but a beautiful stern section covered in life. Think everyone agreed this was a great wreck.

2015-08-05 - Thesis Wreck, Highlands and Islands, United Kingdom

32m - 61 min

Diving with Mark and Bruce again. Tried a negative entry but then missed the shot line so ended up having to bob up and have a huge swim into the current to get back to the buoy. Took my 15 mins of the dive to get my breathe back. Didn't help having a fair bit of current on the wreck either. Made it pretty difficult to manoeuvre. Headed up hill first as seemed the logical direction. Coming back down port side I found a rope off to the anchor some 15-20 metres away. Saved a crab that was caught in monofilament line. Back on wreck got dark down toward the stern. Found a big sea slug at one point..... Wasn't in the book though. Looked like the steering quadrant was still stood upright on the wreck at the bottom. Moved back up the wreck by heading instead a bulk head. But of a squeeze..... Fun watching mark snd Dave try to squeeze in too :-) This was about 30 mins in an only just in the wreck. Then just swam through looking in all the nooks and crannies. Nice swim thru up past the boiler. Has panic when I saw mark with his dsmb unfurled.... Thought the unit had packing in and he was heading up. Overall left the wreck at about 56 mins with no deco...... I love ccr diving!!!! Back on surface we went seal spotting and then had a visit from some porpoises. Nice.
