  • Greetings….I was certified in April 2014 in central Oregon on a cold day with snow blowing sideways. Since then I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet some great people and to dive a few times in Cancun and Cozumel. I recently completed by Rescue Diver training and am considering a DM program. Hope to meet many more friends and enjoy many years of exploration.

Good day with Bob, Wade, and Sarah. There were new triangles floating underwater to practice buoyancy skills. It was my first warm day that I dove in Central Oregon. Huge Crawfish.

    Underwater Sculpture Museum

This was my first open water dive in salt water. It was at the Under Water Museu off Isla Mujeres. Went with a DM and a family that had never dove. The father was sea sick most of the time. We say schools of fish and the Museu was not a cheesy and I had expected. Stayed buoyant better than I thought I would and I equalized often with better success. Ears sore after the dive however.

    Punta Negra

Great dive but still a learning curve for me. The Dive Master failed to tell me what the psi was to surface. I warned him at 500. He immediately had me transfer to his Octo, filled the tube with my reg and we headed to the surface without a rest stop. Not sure why he did that but was told later that they like to head to surface at 700. The dive however was good. Lots of fish in the reef. Went through my air too quickly. Dive Master told me to calm my arms. At the surface the dive master took us back to the dock to drop off one couple. While there he go me a bigger take.

    Paylas Reef

Buoyancy, mask, and equalizing all in check - much improved. Big swales at sea more that 2Xs the size of the boat, some 20 feet high. When we left the dive shop, the DM told me that we could not go to the reef that he wanted to go to because the wind was too strong, so we went to the other side of the island. I was surprised at the swales. Once under water it calmed down, but there were still a lot of movement. We saw lobster, crab, schools of fish, angel fish and a very large grouper. Surfacing was very good. Slow ascent.
