Diver's Notes

Ledge with lots of fish activity. Large school of amberjacks went by. Shark, turtles, tons of fish. Dove in our group of three. Descended without any difficulty. Frank held my hand the entire time due to panic episode from previous day at Florida Scuba Charters with Dustin McCabe. (See below). I feel like I would have been fine without him holding my hand. Was unable to maintain buoyancy since Frank was holding my hand. Did not feel panicked when shark went by. Ascended without any difficulty. Safety stop had no problems. No problems getting back on the boat. did take Dramamine due to being sick the day before.

Incident with Florida Sciba Charters:

I was in the front of the boat under the shelter. I got hot after getting in wetsuit and no air flow in that area. I was slow to get gear on and when we got to the dive site. Everyone was ready and I was so hot, I got nauseous. All other divers got off of boat and Dustin pulled off not realizing he had forgotten me on the boat. Dive master yelled he had another diver and he stopped and told me to dive. I was already hot and flustered and jumped off the boat. I was roughly 100 yards from my dive buddies. With the swells, I was unable to see them between waves. I started to panic and was unsure whether to go under water or swim to them on the surface. They were trying to tell me what to do. So I kept taking my regulator out to yell back. I swallowed some water and was panicked and started to slightly hyperventilate trying to get to them. They same toward me. Dustin pulled off as soon as I was off the boat. When we all reached each other, I was completely winded and not thinking clearly. I tried to catch my breath but was unable to. Frank told me that I would not be able to get my breathing under control until I was under water. I tried to go down, but panicked immediately due to not being able to catch my breath. I only got about 10 feet down, so we surfaced. Frank took control and told me I was getting back on the boat. He flagged the boat over to pick me up. I was spent. and had no energy left after this episode. I climbed up the boat and Frank and Phil then descended. I was still having a hard time breathing once I crawled up on the boat and collapsed on the deck at the back of the boat. The deckhand took my BC off and tossed my fins and mask on opposite sides of the boat and put my BC up. She left me on the floor and then went up to the captains deck and went back to talking to Dustin. I was laying on the floor. I finally got up and got to the side of the boat to sit down. I got extremely nauseous and eventually started to vomit. I could not even stand up due to exhaustion. Dustin nor his deckhand came to ask if I was ok or to check on me. The deck hand is a paramedic or ems worker. After vomiting multiple times, I finally was able to lay down with a towel over me. I was barely able to lift my head. The crew never asked if I was ok or needed anything. I did not do the second dive. The dive master was up long before any of the customers. When we got back to the dock, I was furious. Dustin spoke to me for the first time and told me I need to go see a doctor. I asked for what, and he told me so I could get a Rx for Zofran for my sea sickness. I told him I didn't need to see a doctor, I wasn't sick due to sea sickness, I got sick after he dumped me so far away from my dive group and I was winded and had swallowed water trying to get to them. He had no response and then took our money. No apology, explanation, nothing. I was furious with their actions and lack of concern to their customers. They never checked for dive certifications, tanks, equipment, and every dive we have done with them, the dive master was up long before the last diver. Complete lack of concern for safety or customers. Will never dive with them again.
