Diver's Notes

The wind had blown out all other diving so every diver headed towards the Um El Faroud. Thankfully we arrived quite early with only a few other locals about. A surface swim out of the bay and descended down over the divers helmet before hitting the wreck.

It is huge! And incredible in such good viz. We did a full lap from stern to bow. Swam through a couple of small sections mid wreck. It is ripped in two from where the oil had exploded and also from where it was later scuttled. The metal is bent at various angles.

Swam along the deck to find four barracudas hunting, got quite scared! Lots of pretty pink and white, blue and white nudibranches, very small.

Headed back to the reef with 14mins of deco. Scary watching the boats pass us on our deco stop so closely.

No further diving for a day and half due to the force 7-8 winds :-(
