Diver's Notes

Open Water Training; Dive #1
My first ever dive! =D So happy to finally be in the water with sayang <3. We (Andy, Raimy, Ramon) started the session with our instructor Fizah/Fizzy in shallow water (about 2m) where she taught us some basic skills like partial mask flood, regulator clearing (purge & blast), regulator recovery (arm sweep), alternative air source (AAS) use. I was a little nervous and I think that caused me to hyperventilate a little. That in turn affected my descent and Fizah had to put more weight on me. It was really cool to dive for the first time! Best part was being able to breathe underwater; always wanted to do that! =D I was, however, a little too excited I suppose, what with all the new sensations and not being certain if I was doing things right. Was afraid of bumping into the reef etc. Also didn't do that good a job keeping up with Ramon/being a good dive buddy. Oh yes, had a neutral buoyancy control practice before descending too (that's when the weights got added). Back to the dive, my mask was pretty foggy so I missed seeing some (2) blue spotted rays. That, or perhaps I was too distracted by not being able to equalise efficiently (I swallowed instead of blowing through my nose). I did, nonetheless, get to see some pretty cool things like the school of yellow snappers, sergeant majors, western clownfish, baby white eyed moray eel, and a huge titan trigger fish!
