Another Navigation night dive, towards ADV card. Shannon let us do it on our own, and evaluated on land. We did a typical box and returned safely.

Took my brother out for a beginners dive. There wasn't much to see, but we were messing around with lobsters, and the scuba gear. - Lobsters - Flounders

10m - 35 min - Dived with Shannon Driscoll from Tanker's Scuba Club
First Fresh Water Dive. Viz was less than two feet. There were trees on the bottom of the river; which, with low viz, made this dive a challenge. Divers should take it slow at the bottom, looking up and down, side to side, making sure they don't swim into a tree. - Eels - Catfish - Bass - Trash

I participated in the Tanker's Scuba Club River Clean Up. There were about 30 divers in total. Since there was a shortage of instructors, I was chosen to head a group of two. Again, diving in the Oromocto river is challenging enough without having to worry about two other people. Before we got in, Frank noticed that there was something wrong with his BC. I told him that if anything happens, let go of your weights and return to the surface. On our first attempt, we all descended, but no one could find one another; even though we were probably a foot away from one another. When we returned to the surface, Frank said he had to drop his weights because his BC wasn't inflating. This left me and Jordan. We had to hold each other's hands on the descent. Once we got to the bottom it was fine, and the dive was a great success. We picked up a bunch of trash. - Eels - Catfish - Trash

Me and Pat went out for a little cruz. The water was extremely green, because of the upcoming algae bloom.

Me, Pat and Dad decided to hit up a little cove near Beaver Harbour. The ocean floor was covered with rocks. There were underwater rock formations, beds of kelp, and little fauna. The viz was terrible due to the algae bloom. - Lobsters - Rock Formations - Kelp

We all decided to do the same dive, but instead of going straight out- we would follow the beach. Within 10 minutes, I had this crazy sharp pain coming from a tooth. I continued diving, hoping that it would go away. I signaled my dad and pat that I was going up. The pain was excruciating. I figured out that I had a "tooth squeeze". I've had broken bones, torn ligaments, you name it, but this tooth squeeze was by far the was pain I've ever had. Six hours later, I was fine. - Rock Formations - Lobster - Tooth Squeeze = Ouch

Start of my Rescue Diver Training. Jody, found an old shipping wreck in Rexton, NB. He is in the process of registering the find. As of now, the wreck is called "Anonymous". The ship is on a bank. The water was a yellow color and the algae bloom was in full swing. - Anonymous Ship Wreck - Bottles - Massive Lobster

Me, Dad and Jody drove up to Bathurst to finish off our Rescue Diver Training. The site, Atlas Park, is where the military do most of their training. Atlas Park is a big quarry, which is fed by a spring. Me and Dad dove down to the platform and played around on it for a bit. We then swam over to the small wreck. The wreck rested half on the cliff and half off. - Platform - Wreck

Diving from the center of the quarry. I didn't have a mask on, and thought that I could handle the cold. After the first thermocline, I decided to continue with the group. Once we hit 75 feet, you could actually see the second thermocline. As soon as I went under the second thermocline, the cold hit me like a punch in the face. I immediately added some air into my BC and headed for the surface. I followed the group to the wreck, by watching the bubbles on the surface. I then descended at the wreck to meet up with the group. We then had some fun with air bags; lifting the wreck, and some trash on the platform.

Last dive @ Atlas Park. We had to conclude the day by doing all of our rescue training. This training involved panicked/tired diver- on the surface and in the water. It also included: an over exhaustion diver in the water, and an unconscious one on the surface and in the water. It is ironic that I almost had to be rescued on this dive. The strap that connected my reg to my mouth piece broke. I couldn't understand what was going on, so I decided to head up to the surface. I should have taken my octopus, but I couldn't figure out why my reg wasn't working- since I still had the mouth piece in my mouth. Anyway, lesson learned. Use the octopus.
