  • I began diving in 1978 while still in high school, and dove pretty often for about 5 years. Sadly life provided a longer than planned surface interval. Now, after raising two beautiful daughters that are both divers I have begun again to enjoy this incredible sport. Recently completed both Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air through PADI, and am beginning to work on my Rescue Diver. I prefer the temps of the Carribean waters, however I also enjoy both lake & quarry diving too. Looking forward to earning both my PADI Divemaster and NAUI Technical Diver licensees as I plan to continue diving as long as life allows!

First boat dive on this trip. Went fairly deep, so used this for our deep dive on my Advnaced Open Water. We had a return diver from the first group - says she could not operate her BC correctly. Serious lack of attention from boat divemnasters. We rented from Jim Abernathy Tours - great dives and site, but wont be going with them again.

8 Divers total. EXTREMELY CHOPPY (8-9 foot waves) and we were in a 22 foot long boat! 5 of 8 sick while we drove 3-4 miles off point of Yucatan Penninsula into open water. This is the junction where Carribean, Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico converge . . . so currents are strong all the time. Had to do negative entry to stay together and head for bottom. Once down on the wreck it was beautiful - we saw school of eagle rays, lobster all over and schools of fish all through the wreck. It was an old patrol gunship brokeninto two pieces about 100 feet apart. I realized on this dive that I ned to get myself back into better shape - had a lot of trouble catching my breath after hard kicks.

Another shark found - 3 footer sleeping on sandy bottom - saw him between some coral. Several more turtles, a couple of very large ones. And a very large moray eel. Beautiful dive.
