Boat dive with Gold Coast Divers through South Florida Dive Headquarters. Excellent visibility. Saw a loggerhead on the way to this wreck. Fish everywhere. you can get a good look inside the wheelhouse and the hull. I felt overweighted this dive and would shed 2 lbs next time I do a deeper boat dive. For trim, 1 lb weights in the trim pockets may have leveled me out better.

    Ss Copenhagen Wreck

This was a really neat dive site - we started at the beach behind the sea watch and swam out (half hour surface swim) to the mooring buoys, dropping down just south of the anchor and monument plaque. We went north along the wreck and continued on to explore the ledges a little further to the north, before following the ledge back around to the wreck. Saw a spotted spiny lobster, a big grouper (briefly), rainbow parrotfish sleeping, and lots of other fish.Other divers in the area saw a spotted eagle ray on the way in and out. Also worth seeing is a field of staghorn coral about halfway out to the dive site. Weighting at 4 lbs with my steel 120 was OK, even at 500 psi. I could probably drop another 2 pounds, or all of it. The current picked up on the way in , and I didn't have an opportunity to do a buoyancy check. Next time. I feel much better about diving with the Faber HP 120 after this dive.

    Lauderdale By The Sea

Waves were chest high, making for a challenging entry. We were getting overtopped by breakers even when we had swam more than halfway down Anglin's pier. Dive plan: surface swim to end of first reef, descend and proceed generally west to second reef, then south, then turn around and go north. Viz was better out at the reefs than near shore, but not great. Fish were hiding in the corals to avoid the swell. Saw a moray eel (small)and little reef fish. Weight (20 lbs) felt good this time. I may be able to shed a pound or two next time, but I was easily able to swim the weight up to the surface and orally inflate my BC.
