Our first dive in Angra, this was a cove with an old concrete slide coming out of the hillside into the water. Mary's first open water dive and Jose's first experience with Scuba. The dive master stayed with them both and they went back to the surface after about 30 minutes. We dove the left side of the cove first and the right side after Mary and Jose went back to the surface. Visibility wasn't great with lots of particulate in the water making it very green. Saw various reef fish and something we called dragon fish, though we didnt know what it was. Took some video and pictures. Saw a huge puffer fish hanging out under the boat.
Dive circled a small island off Ilha Grande. The bottom was covered with large rocks which made it very similar to a New England dive except for the colors. Found a sand dollar the size of my head and lots of colorful sea anemone on the sides of the rocks. Many of the rocks were covered with a soft sponge like coral. Schools of fish were eating purple film (fish eggs?) off of the back of rocks and I even caught a glimpse of a large spotted ray.
