Shelly beach is a well known Sydney dive spot and is regularly used by the Manly dive shops for training. It is also a nature reserve. As it is a shallow beach dive safety stops aren't needed on surfacing. Used up pretty much all my air and practiced buddy breathing whilst swimming to shore.

Searching for grey nurse sharks but didn't find any. Had to surface twice to find missing diver(s).Teenager had a panic and my buddy (who had +70 logged dives) had to assist him & calm him down. Dive wasted. Although diver safety is a priority, the skills/confidence of a diver should have been checked more carefully by dive shop who did not send a guide on the boat (without telling us beforehand). I raised this with Plunge who compensated me with a complementary double dive and changed their advertising policy to include a statement if the dive will be guided or not. Well done Plunge!

Looking for grey nurse sharks but didn't see any. Discovered ginger as a sea sickness remedy on this dive and have used it on every bote dive since then...!

Dived the famous Magic Point off Maroubra beach near Sydney, home of the school of grey nurse sharks. Saw three approximately 3m long!

very choppy, not a lot to see due to current, hence low viz Lost buddy (from dive centre) in last 5 min, deployed SMB, waited for 5min and surfaced, buddy @ boat, all ok! PS location of dive site is 33° 49' 14"S 151° 17' 01"E (using AUS66 as datum) - map doesn't show correctly, dunno why!

Gordon's Bay Trail Diver course - dive 1 * Identify five marine species * navigate three drums * shackle broken trail chain * remove growth from marker bouys We decided to abandon dive 2 due to incoming tide and heavy swell which would make using lift bag to repair chains very difficult and potentially dangerous.

first dive with ProDive Manly on their dive boat Sealife V. Well equipped boat & good dive leaders & boat crew. Unfortunately this didn't translate into good dive. Poor visibility and limited sea life as well as cold water , all outside ProDive's control! Used hood and gloves.

second dive with ProDive Manly. better than first but very cold & finished dive early. Saw large sea snail on sandy sea bed, shell about 10cm diameter!

first dive with new BLACK Tusa mask. This has full prescription across the lenses. So far excellent and comfortable. However have difficulty with distance. will change lens to bi-focals
