Signed up for this dive and the next two while at the Biscayne National Park Visitor Center. Aquatic Ops Diving was the Scuba Vender at that time. They happened to be chartering the boat and going out to a wreck for a double dip the next day (July 4). ****Huge Mistake***** We made it to the wreck and before we could start the dive the Divemaster/Owner/Instructor got sea sick and puked all over the boat. I think all the divers smoking on the boat made him sick. Then he insisted we leave the wreck and go to a shallow reef. The seas were only 2-3 feet but he said many of the divers were new to diving. The boat captain was screaming profanities at him but we left the wreck and went to a shallow reef. Visibility on the reef was 2-3 feet as should have been expected. The sand was stirred up. I practiced my navigation skills but the dive was pretty much a waste. I think it would have been fine on the wreck 60 feet down. On a safety note: The bottom couple of steps on one of the ladders are missing. You do not know this until you try to reboard.
Got two dives out of this tank because the water was so shallow--9 feet. After the disaster of the first dive of the day we went to the bay between the barrier island and the mainland hoping for better visibility. It was not a bad dive but very shallow. There was an old shrimp boat on the bottom. It was very small-maybe 20 feet long. The other divers on the boat, students of Aquatic Ops went nuts. They tore pieces off of the wreck. The killed fish, lobsters and other aquatic life and left them laying on site. I spent first dive around the boat watching the freak show. The next dive, the second half of this profile, I spent doing navigation drills around the boat. People were smoking on the boat all through the trip. I think this helped make the divemaster sick.
This was the second dive on the Shrimp boat. The second portion of the previous dive profile. I left the Shrimp boat and did navigation drills around the boat for the rest of the dive.
