2014-08-18 - Mizpah, Florida West Palm Beach, United States

25.3m - 52 min - Dived with Sea Pup Divers

Actually called the "Mizpah Corridor." Great way to start the day! My favorite dive of the whole two day trip. It is actually a series of wrecks and rubble. We dropped down next to the Mizpah where we found several Goliath Groupers and some very large Rays. I watched a large Grouper swim through a hole in the top of the Mizpah. Amazing it got through but then it turned and peered out at us when we came close. Between this and the next wreck were some old tires in the sand. We were told the Groupers may aggregate above the tires but no luck. Next was the Patrol Craft 1174. It is in two pieces with a considerable gap in between. Lots of sea life! Next was the wreck of the Amaryllis. The deck has been cut off of it. Lots of life on this wreck. We then drifted to the China barge also called the research barge. We were told we probably not reach it but diving Steel 119s paid off and we did. Also we were told there is not life there but there were some fish and some very large rays in the sand next to it. It is worth seeing but not nearly as much life as what is on the Mizpah. Great dive all around.

2014-08-18 - Juno Ledge, Jupiter Florida, United States

28.3m - 21 min - Dived with Sea Pup Divers

Strong current so we descended quickly so we were not separated. Unfortunately we missed the ledge. I thought it was to the east of us because we were briefed that if our depth was more than 90 feet we were between the ledge and the coast. The divemaster thought the ledge was to the west of us so he guided us in that direction. We never found the ledge but it is hard to say who was correct and we will never know-ha ha. We did see a few fish swimming around above the sand. We surfaced in 21 minutes after a 3 minute safety stop so that the boat could try to drop us on the ledge again which it did but that is the next dive.

26.2m - 20 min - Dived with Sea Pup Divers

Second attempt to drop onto the ledge and we had success! The ledge is at least 20 feet high. Saw two Blacktip Reef Sharks which were about 5 feet long. Saw another Goliath Grouper down in the rocks and came within 5 feet. Saw a medium size turtle. Very nice dive. Good current.

2014-08-18 - Toybox And Playpen, Riviera beach, FL, United States

19.2m - 43 min - Dived with Sea Pup Divers

Last of four dives with Sea Pup Divers on this date. Dropped down to the Toybox where we found an abundance of life including a several hundred pound Goliath Grouper that swam between my dive buddy and myself. The current was light so we swam all the way around the Toybox. When we came back to the south side came very close to a very large turtle. Before moving on we explored the interior of the Toybox from the top. We drifted with the light current and swam from the Toybox to the Playpen but were only on the Playpen a couple minutes when my dive buddy ran low on air so we surfaced. All in all a great dive with a lot to see. We dove my Aluminum 80s and were able to stay down 42 minutes. I could have stayed another 5 minutes.
