Diver's Notes

Dive report: Mitchell Cove (as found on the NOAA chart). David Parker, Ed Pieratt and me headed out in one real Kayak and one two person dive inflatable Yak. It was a beautiful day to be on the water. I left the camera in the car in favor of testing out a pathfinder reel. Ed might have some go pro footage. Not having to swim out rocked, that is a good long way. We clipped off to the kelp futzed around for a bit and dropped down.

Sadly, it was into a snow storm. Vis was about 1-5 feet with a mild surge intermittently swirling the swoop for us.
I can see how this might be a awesome site if you catch it on a clear day though. Tons of life in the kelp bed. Overlaid rock shelf's going off as far as I could find.
It was bad enough that we got separate. Once we grouped we took a second stab at it.
Vis was not bad around 15 feet, was more around 10-15 feet range, which was nice and kelp looked very pretty with the light coming through.

Reel worked great the first time out second time had a snag and got all twisted up. I feel like such a noob :).

The Yak worked well but was so slow compared to the Kayak.
Note to self: DON'T launch kayaks while only half in dry suit.
