2015-12-16 - Barracuda, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

13.5m - 46 min - Dived with Playa Scuba

An ok dive. There were a lot of eels. I found a baby spotted moray swimming along the flats. I saw a cow fish and a trunk fish. I was following a large queen trigger fish who turned dark blue when I tried to take its picture. At the end of the dive there was a group of blue tangs trying to nibble on me. The reef wasn't very high - unlike some of the walls I'm used to. There was a lizard fish at the end of the dive.

2015-12-16 - Sabalos Reef, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

14.1m - 49 min - Dived with Playa Scuba

A cool 50th dive! The current was quite strong. I saw a cow fish, a queen trigger, a scorpion fish, an arrow crab, a channel crab, and several spotted morays. There were many scrawled file fish - one group of 5 together. There were many large schools and one school of a small drum-looking fish (high hat). There was also a cool ray (yellow sting ray) and during out ascent after the safety stop there was a school of large needle fish.

2015-12-17 - Cenote Kukulkan, Puerto Aventuras, Mexico

14m - 43 min - Dived with Sonny from Playa Scuba

I had to use a different regulator because mine was leaking air - so no computer on this dive. This was an amazing experience! The light came through the water like a curtain and was split up into different beams. It was raining and it looked like glitter on top of the water. It was really cool to dive in the dark and see all the rock structures. Bot both cenotes, I was the only person in my group. I got cold so we cut this dive a bit short.

2015-12-17 - Pequeño Hermano/Chac Mool Cenote, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

12.5m - 37 min - Dived with Sonny from Playa Scuba

Sonny, my guide switched my computer to the loaner reg. This dive was even better than the last! It was amazing to come up through the helocline from the salt water into the fresh - it looked like I was floating in a lake. There, the Chac-mool cenote was covered in algae giving it a stained glass ceiling effect. There were a lot of stalactites which was amazing. At one point we came into an air filled dome within the cave that had a lot of stalactites and tree roots coming down from the top. Probably my favorite dive so far!

2015-12-18 - Shark Point, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

20.6m - 40 min - Dived with Playa Del Scuba

This dive was spent looking for bull sharks. My BCD wasn't working right - it kept filling up with air uncontrollably - so I had to unhook it from the air and inflate by mouth. We saw a few bull sharks, som small eels (brown garden eel) looking out from the sand, a cow fish, a spotted file fish, sand dollars, and a small crab (blotched swimming crab?) burried under the sand. There were also a lot of rosy razorfish that would go into the sand when I got too close. Our guide killed all the lionfish we saw along the way (3 or 4). There were a lot of conch trails in the sand.

2015-12-18 - Jardines, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

24.4m - 24 min - Dived with Playa Scuba

This was the bull shark feeding dive. There were four bull sharks that came to eat. There were also several large sting rays. Kevin got attached by a trigger fish. I had to self inflate by BCD again. The bull sharks are much larger than the black tipped reef sharks, but there were much calmer while eating.
