2023-05-28 - Yellow Submarine House Reef, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles

19.6m - 43 min

Our first dive of this trip. The reef wasn't very healthy here. We saw a clam and a chain moray. Also saw some tarpon. My first dive with my new wet suit so I used extra weight.

2023-05-28 - Red Slave, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles

26.3m - 44 min

We saw dolphins swimming by the buoy before we got in. We saw some groupers, big puffers, and some peacock flounders. When one encountered the second one, it arched its back and stuck its fin up in a threatening way before swimming off.

2023-05-29 - Playa Lechi House Reef, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles

11.9m - 38 min

We did this as as night dive. The reef was definitely affected by stony coral disease but it was still a fun dive. At the end of the dive we saw a tarpon hunting. I saw it catch a fish.

2023-05-30 - The Rock, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles

34.6m - 48 min

We had a few things go wrong on this dive - couldn't find "The Rock"; went too deep; etc., but ended having a very nice reef dive. There were a lot of nice sponges here - the elephant ear and barrel sponges were especially nice.

2023-05-30 - Salt Pier, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles

15.7m - 53 min

A great dive at salt pier as always. We had the whole site to ourselves - we watched the ship head out and started our dive just after it left. My air got low at the end - could use extra weight for if it gets that low again.

2023-05-31 - Boka Spelonk, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles

27.5m - 66 min

This was an amazing dive! We saw a tiny juvenile French angel, an octopus in its hole, many large lobsters, a turtle, a big barracuda, a black brotula, mutton hamlets, reef butterfly fish, rainbow runners, a couple southern stingrays, and a couple ocean triggerfish. I found a lionfish and our guide speared it and fed it to a lobster. There was a cave we swam into. The reef structure was great and the reef was very healthy. One of the best dives I can remember doing.

14m - 51 min

We did Salt Pier as a night dive. It was disorienting to dive this in the dark. We saw and octopus who tried to steal Justin's GoPro. This was our 100th dive in Bonaire.
