Diver's Notes

While scuba diving this morning at Shiprock, I saw an octopus nestled against a reef and the sand. It was sitting atop a plastic bag (which I always try to collect and take ashore). I carefully approached, grabbed the bag between my thumb and forefinger and started gently pulling it towards me. The octopus responded with body language that said "on no you don't!". It extended a tentacle, wrapped it around the opposite end of the bag and started pulling it back towards itself. It was an incredible interaction.

I also noticed Carijoa Riisei for the first time. a.k.a snowflake coral. It was very delicate white and ornate coral that has a branching/flower kind of structure.
